Quicker and improved possibilities for electronic communication are an important source of growth, now and in the future. This has been determined by the majority of investigations that have shed light on the significance of electronic communication for a society.

In the report "The Socio-Economic Value of Digital Infrastructures" made by Copenhagen Economics - on behalf of The Danish Energy Association - it is estimated that a Denmark as a high speed broadband society will contribute approximately 5 percent extra to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2020, equivalent to approximately DKK 114 billion per year.

Other measures regarding the social advantages of an improved digital infrastructure in Denmark are also the subject of the report. More specifically the effects on innovation, employment, CO2 emissions and innovation in the public sector.
