Energy companies massively behind backloading

With the upcoming vote on the backloading proposal put forward by the Commission, several coalitions of interest groups and major companies are working towards the common goal of securing support for a real continuation of the ETS-system.

- We need a well-functioning EU Emissions Trading Scheme, if Europe is to modernize its energy system according to the path that has been called for politically. Currently the ETS is lacking and a political intervention will be in the long-term interest of both companies and countries in Europe, says Ulrich Bang, head of the EU-office of Danish Energy Association.

Danish Energy Association is both part of a coalition of companies and organizations that posted a full-page ad in today’s version of the Financial Times (see PDF).

The organization is also one of many groups that – in a letter sent directly to the Members of the European Parliament – calls for support to the ETS.
